On October 15 and 16, 2024, Amazon Connection Carbon (ACC) participated in the Brazilian Climate and Carbon Conference, held at the Santander Theater in São Paulo. Promoted by the Brazil NBS Alliance, the event brought together professionals, industry experts, academics, and government representatives to discuss key issues related to climate change and the carbon market.
The Conference was organized around three main themes: Climate, Carbon Market (Regulated and Voluntary), and Perspectives for COP29, focusing on the future of regulation and Brazil's contributions to combating climate change. Among the topics discussed, the importance of Nature-Based Solutions, the implementation of Brazil's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), and strategies to strengthen Brazil's role on the global stage, especially in relation to COP30, which will take place in Belém, Pará, stood out.
During the event, ACC focused on expanding its knowledge of emerging carbon market methodologies and regulations, since these issues are crucial for the commercialization of carbon credits, one of its main areas of activity. The company, which already operates in the sale of carbon credits and the quantification of greenhouse gas emissions, seeks to align its practices with the latest regulatory requirements, ensuring the legitimacy and effectiveness of its environmental projects.
Waldner Bruno Souza, ACC's Operations and Projects Manager, highlighted the importance of events such as the Brazilian Climate and Carbon Conference for strengthening the sector.
ACC's participation in an event of this size is a valuable opportunity to understand the trends and challenges of the carbon market in Brazil. We're committed to contributing to building a sustainable future, and being in contact with experts and academics helps us improve our strategies and strengthen our role in preserving the Amazon.
In addition to the lecture sessions, the conference was attended by renowned academics, such as Prof. Paulo Artaxo, from the University of São Paulo (USP), and Prof. Carlos Cerri, from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), who brought scientific contributions on the role of forests and agriculture in carbon capture. The discussions also addressed emerging technological solutions and challenges in implementing jurisdictional programs that can ensure greater transparency and effectiveness in offsetting emissions.
Over the two days of the event, Amazon Connection Carbon sought to strengthen its networking, establishing dialogues with other companies in the sector and exploring new opportunities for partnership and project development.
Our presence at an event like this is strategic for ACC. We know that the carbon market is expanding, and we want to be at the forefront of innovations, ensuring that our projects remain aligned with the highest international sustainability requirements.
The Brazilian Climate and Carbon Conference has established itself as one of the main events in the sector in Brazil, promoting an exchange of experiences that aims to accelerate the development of innovative and effective solutions to address global climate challenges. For ACC, participating in this environment was essential to reinforce its commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the Amazon, reaffirming its mission to connect the forest to the world through the responsible trading of carbon credits and the promotion of concrete actions against climate change.
