Reduction of Deforestation and Carbon Emissions

This initiative directly contributes to climate change mitigation and the preservation of the Amazon rainforest. The REDD+ AUD project seeks to prevent unplanned deforestation in Xikrin Indigenous Lands, avoiding the emission of over 50 million tons of CO₂ equivalent by 2055 — the same amount emitted by Brazil's Federal District over six years.

Biodiversity Conservation

The project conducts continuous monitoring of the region’s flora and fauna, having identified 869 species — 31 of which are of high conservation value. A total of 227 plant species have been catalogued, including Brazil nuts and yellow ipe trees. Data collection on herpetofauna, avifauna, and mammals strengthens the protection of local ecosystems.

Sociocultural and Economic Empowerment of Indigenous Communities

More than 1,700 Xikrin villagers benefit from initiatives that include entrepreneurship training, infrastructure improvements, access to healthcare and education, and cultural appreciation through support for rituals, festivals, and historical documentation. The project also reinforces Indigenous governance based on the Xikrin people's traditional values.
